Smarter Scholarship Matches
For many students, finding reliable information on college scholarships is arduous and haphazard. For scholarship providers, getting their message out to students is similarly time-consuming and random. For students and families with no prior college experience, the financial aid process is particularly complex. To make the scholarship process easier for both students and providers, a coalition of public and nonprofit partners developed a solution for Washington students and providers: theWashBoard.org.
Beginning in 2006, College Spark provided funding to develop theWashBoard.org as a website to match Washington scholarship providers with students here. Now hosted at the Washington Student Achievement Council, the website simplifies and centralizes scholarship searches and the application process for Washington students, particularly low-income students. Launched in 2010, theWashBoard.org is a free, web-based scholarship matching clearinghouse. In one stop, students can search and apply for verified scholarship opportunities specific to their academic interests, college or university, or other criteria.
